Clinical service
IV Iron Infusions
Jan Family Clinic offers physician-supervised IV iron infusions for eligible patients who require intravenous iron replacement.
When IV iron may be considered
IV iron may be recommended when oral iron is not tolerated, has not produced an adequate response, absorption is limited, or faster replacement is clinically appropriate.
What to expect
- Review of relevant bloodwork and medical history
- Confirmation of the prescribed IV iron product and dose
- Administration in a monitored clinical setting
- Observation during and after the infusion according to the clinical protocol
- Follow-up testing when clinically indicated
Insurance and cost
Private insurance coverage for the medication varies by plan. Drug coverage and the clinic administration fee may be treated separately by insurers.
